Crates, bakkie packs, and multi-city tours that arrive with every glyph accounted for.

The role

As logistics lead, Karabo plans how every set gets to the venue and back. He books vehicles, assigns crews, prepares packing sheets and routes multi-city tours. Every crate leaves Kew labelled and photographed under his process.

Crates and packing

Letters travel in numbered crates in word order, with globes in padded trays and drivers in labelled bags. Karabo's packing sheets list every part, and the dispatch photos give the crew a reference on site.

Venue access

Tight loading docks, gravel paths, long carries and strict mall access windows all change a load plan. Karabo confirms the route from the vehicle to the letter position, the lift sizes and the security sign-in before the crew leaves.

Multi-city tours

Brand tours move the same set through several cities. Karabo plans the order, the travel days and the crew at each stop, and he chooses sturdy letter types such as Block Cast that stack and handle repeated loading.

Returns

After strike, Karabo checks each set against the packing sheet and dispatch photos. Missing parts and damage are logged and followed up.

Behind the schedule

Karabo's week starts with the install calendar. He matches vehicles and crews to each job, checks access windows with venues, and plans routes for multi-stop days. During wedding season, several sets can leave Kew on the same afternoon, each with its own crew and packing sheet.

He also tracks crates and spares, so the kit box in every crate is restocked after each return.

Working with venues

Karabo keeps a record of access notes for venues the crews visit often, from loading dock heights to gate codes and parking spots, which helps repeat installs run smoothly.

When plans change

Venues sometimes move access times or loading points at short notice. Karabo reworks the crew schedule and the route, and updates the job sheet so everyone has the new plan.
