The role
As showroom lead, Thandeka runs try-ons at Kew and staging in Cape Town. She sets up the letters at full size, lights them, and walks clients through spacing, height and finish before the date.
Try-ons at Kew
For a try-on, Thandeka lays out the word at the heights the client is considering and lights it under venue-style lighting. Clients can view it from guest distance, compare finishes side by side and test changes on the spot.
Staging in Cape Town
Sets for the Western Cape arrive at the Paarden Eiland staging bay. Thandeka checks each set, stages it in order and prepares it for the local crew. She also runs appointments for Cape Town clients.
Regional floors
Thandeka coordinates the sample sets on the regional appointment floors, making sure each one holds finishes suited to its climate and typical events.
Preparing for a visit
Clients who send the word, venue photos and artwork before the visit get a set-up matched to their event. Thandeka confirms the agreed word, size and finish in writing after the session.
A typical try-on
Thandeka sets up the letters before the client arrives, lights them under venue-style lighting, and lays out alternatives for any part of the word the client is unsure about. During the session, she moves letters, swaps finishes and adjusts spacing while the client watches from guest distance.
After the session, she sends a written summary with photos of the agreed set.
Between sessions
She also keeps the showroom samples clean and up to date, and she helps the crew stage Cape Town sets before installs.
Working with photographers
Photographers often join try-ons. Thandeka adjusts the lamp level and letter angle with them so the set reads well on camera before the event.
Regional visits
When clients cannot reach Kew or Paarden Eiland, Thandeka arranges a visit to a regional floor or runs a video try-on, lighting the letters and walking the camera to guest distance.
